About us - History

The family business was started by Alan and Sheila on our farm at Clifton in Golden Bay situated at the top of the South Island. Golden Bay has many attractions, stunning scenery and a reputation for the arts and crafts and fine hospitality.

Initially salami was produced for family and friends while the recipes, and curing techniques were perfected.

In 1998 this led to the opening of a small processing plant on the family farm selling the salami from their pottery showroom.

In 2002 Rob, Alan and Sheila’s son joined the business. Rob relocated the business, and he can now be found working in and around his self service "Salami Shack", centrally located half way between the bottom of the Takaka Hill and Takaka. This allowed him to modernise the operation in a purpose built facility, and the provision of complimentary products, including Ham, Bacon and Gourmet Sausages. All this without losing any of the friendly character of the product and the people.

The innovations continue to happen with the recent introduction of New Zealand's one and only Salami vending machine. Among the mouth watering treats on offer are their Golden Salamis, Biersticks, Ham, Bacon and Gourmet Sausages!
